To keep a healthy environment in you home or business place, it is important that you keep your carpet clean as well. Carpets tend to get very dirty quickly, and even though you can vacuum it, it does not remove the dirt embedded deep down in the fibers. It is important to have the carpet cleaned thoroughly to maintain its longevity and keep your home healthy. Orange CarpetEven though I mentioned that vacuuming does not always clean the carpet, it is important to vacuum the dust of the carpet at least twice a week. This helps in keeping the carpet in good shape. A good tip when vacuuming is going over the area slowly, especially areas with high traffic to ensure you clean off the dirt and dust.

Other than vacuuming, shampooing a carpet is an ideal way of keeping it in good condition. There are a few ways to achieve this. The first one is to use a shampoo solution that you will have to spray on the carpet to loosen the dirt and the vacuum to get rid of it.

The second way is by steam cleaning. To do this, you will have to use a liquid-based cleaning agent along with a steam cleaning machine. This method brings the dirt to the surface of the carpet and cleans it off. In fact, Steam cleaning is one of the best ways to clean a carpet, whether at home or a business place. However, this does not mean that shampooing is less effective. Both methods are great and its all a matter of preference.

Stains are a nuisance, and when a carpet gets stained, you need to act quickly. This is especially true when it comes to liquids as the longer the spill stays, the harder the stain becomes to clean. When there is a spill, make sure you blot the area as much you can. Don’t rub the fibers as you will just weaken them and eventually tear the spot. You can blot the stain using club soda, but never use bleach as it will discolor the area, making it worse than before.

Besides learning how to clean a carpet when it gets dirty, it is ideally imperative that you learn what you can do to maintain its cleanliness and keep in good condition every day. One of the best things you can do is avoid entering the house with shoes. Ideally, have your family members, friends and guests remove their shoes when entering your house. It is a good idea to keep dirt and dust away from the carpet.

It is obvious that shoes will make the carpet dirty, but what most people fail to realize is that bare feet can also ruin the carpets. This is because of the oils and the sweat the feet excretes. That said, have people wearing socks or slippers when walking around your home.

Another tip in maintaining your carpet is to prevent dirt from entering your house that can be done by placing a mat at the entrance of your house. This way, people will wipe off their feet before they can walk around your house, essentially reducing the amount of dirt particles in the house. You can have the mat outside or inside the entrance. All you have to do is ensure that it is long enough for a person to wipe their feet.

Also, do not forget keep the mats clean. Due to the constant abuse, the mat will reach a point where it has too much dirt such that it serves no purpose. During this limit, it will also allow more dirt into your house, which is the last thing you want.

With these few but helpful tips on carpet cleaning, you should be able to stay with a clean carpet for years to come.
